In this phase students were place in groups of two (one undergrad, one grad student), students reviewed and related research and case studies in: The function analysis and related codes, the role of urban spaces in increasing social interactions,multi-functional spaces, transformable structures, material behavior studies, temporary urban installations, the role of emerging technologies in offering new ideas in designing these urban spaces and new methods of constructions in building them. Students were to select two precedents of successful urban installations. They were to provide Analytical Drawings for the site analysis, Diagrams showing activities and interactions, Material study, details of each project, Structural analysis, Methods of construction and any unique approaches that were used in each precedent through drawings and photos.
